48 Bland County men indicted on sex-related charges
Anthony James Dent and Colton Wayne Slaughter are currently facing Sex related charges in cases.
Two county men, such as a former Bland County Bears football standout, were detained Dec. 13 on sex-related lead indictments returned by Monday’s grand jury.
Anthony James Dent, 48, of Bastian and Colton Wayne Slaughter, 18, are currently facing felony charges in cases.
Being held without bail at the New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin, Dent was charged with indecent liberties with a child and sodomy of a child.
The indictments don’t say whether the child was a male or female, although the crime date was July 15.

“Subject polite and cooperative throughout the bond hearing,” that a magistrate wrote. “Serving officer can also be an investigating officer and advised he has been very cooperative throughout the investigation.” related Sex related charges
Dent’s arraignment has been set for Dec. 19 at Bland County Circuit Court.
Slaughter was charged with having a digital communication system to suggest sex with a person under age 15.
A 2017 Bland County High School graduate is currently attending Emory and Henry College; Slaughter works part-time according to court documents.
Also, he has no prior criminal record, and a magistrate put his bond.
“Subject cooperative throughout bail hearing,” a magistrate wrote. “Divorce advises extremely cooperative through investigation, knows area’s family well.”
